Tax-exempt customers

Apply for Tax Exemption

If your organization is tax-exempt, set it up once and check out without sales tax. Submit the application below — most accounts are approved within one business day.

How it works

1

Submit your information

Fill out the application below with your business details and upload your W-9 (required) and tax exemption certificate (recommended — it speeds approval).

2

3

Order tax-free

Check out with the same email address you applied with, and sales tax is no longer applied to qualifying orders.

What you'll need

  • Legal business or organization name (and DBA if different)
  • Billing address, contact name, phone, and the email you order with
  • State(s) where you claim exemption
  • Completed W-9 (PDF or image — required)
  • Tax exemption certificate for your state (e.g., Michigan Form 3372) — optional, but strongly recommended

Apply now

Mid-of-order? Submit now and we'll confirm by email — you can place your order as soon as your account is tagged. Need it faster? Call 1-800-343-4231 and we'll process it over the phone. Tax exemption applies after approval and only where valid documentation is on file; it does not apply retroactively to orders already placed.

Common questions

Who qualifies for tax-exempt purchasing?

Typically: government agencies, public and private schools, churches and religious organizations, 501(c)(3) nonprofits, and resellers purchasing for resale. Requirements vary by state — if you hold a valid exemption certificate, you almost certainly qualify.

How long does approval take?

Most applications are reviewed within one business day. We'll email you as soon as your account is tagged tax-exempt.

Does the exemption apply to orders I already placed?

No — exemption applies to orders placed after your account is approved. If you just placed a taxed order and you're exempt, contact us at 1-800-343-4231 and we'll make it right.

I'm exempt in multiple states. Do I need to apply more than once?

One application is fine — list every state where you claim exemption and attach the certificates you have. We'll set your account up accordingly.
