Details & specifications

The Formax FD 1606 is a compact desktop pressure sealer for shops that run pressure-seal self-mailer forms: one-piece mailers, paychecks, tax notices, and statements. It folds and seals pre-printed pressure-seal forms in one pass, with a touchscreen and automatic fold-plate settings so an operator can switch between common fold types (C, Z, half, and uneven folds) without hand-setting plates. It sits at the entry of the Formax desktop sealer line, the right machine for a print shop or in-plant mailroom adding pressure-seal capacity without committing to a high-volume production unit.

Mid-State Litho is an authorized Formax dealer. We sell, install, and service the full Formax FD pressure-sealer range from our Michigan facility, and we can walk you up the pressure sealer lineup to an FD 2006, FD 2036, or FD 2056 if your daily form volume outgrows the 1606.

The Formax Pressure-Sealer Lineup: Where the FD 1606 Fits

The Formax FD pressure-sealer line ladders by volume, so a shop that lands on the 1606 can self-select up when throughput warrants. Approximate hourly rates follow the Formax model naming; confirm exact rates for your form on the model page.

  • FD 1606 (this page): compact desktop, touchscreen, automatic fold settings. The entry of the line.
  • FD 2006: mid-volume desktop, touchscreen, up to roughly 8,000 forms per hour.
  • FD 2036: high-volume desktop, touchscreen, up to roughly 11,000 forms per hour.
  • FD 2056: high-volume desktop with an integrated conveyor for continuous runs.
  • FD 2096: high-volume stand-alone unit.
  • FD 2200: production sealer with bottom air feed.

How to Choose a Pressure Sealer

Four questions size the machine to the job:

  1. Daily form volume. Forms per day and per hour drive the choice between a compact desktop (FD 1606, FD 2006), a high-volume desktop (FD 2036, FD 2056), and a production unit (FD 2096, FD 2200).
  2. Form type. Confirm the form is a true pressure-seal form (cohesive stock), not a standard fold-and-staple mailer, and check the fold type required (C, Z, half, or uneven).
  3. Integration. A standalone desktop suits batch runs; an inline or conveyor-fed unit suits continuous production.
  4. Budget and service. Factor in financing and the availability of factory-trained service near you.

Why Buy from Mid-State Litho

Mid-State Litho is an authorized Formax dealer, family-owned and Michigan-based, serving the Great Lakes since 1984. Factory-trained technicians install and service the equipment we sell from our own shop, financing is available, and we support the whole Formax FD pressure-sealer and folder line rather than a single model. Financing is available, and you can contact us for a recommendation tied to your form volume. The FD 1606 also pairs naturally with our mailing equipment and envelope sealing machines for a complete mail-finishing line.

Formax FD 1606 FAQ

What does the Formax FD 1606 do?

It folds and seals pressure-seal self-mailer forms in one pass, including one-piece mailers, paychecks, and tax forms.

What fold types does it handle?

Common pressure-seal folds (C, Z, half, and uneven) through automatic fold-plate settings, so the operator does not hand-set plates between jobs.

Do I need special forms?

Yes. It runs pressure-seal stock with a cohesive adhesive, not standard paper.

When should I move up to an FD 2006 or FD 2036?

When daily form volume outgrows a compact desktop. The 2000-series runs higher hourly throughput while keeping the same pressure-seal workflow.

Do you install and service it in Michigan?

Yes. Mid-State Litho is an authorized Formax dealer with factory-trained service.
