Details & specifications

The MBM Destroyit 2445 is a deskside micro-cut shredder built for private offices, HR, legal, and finance teams that need classified-grade destruction at the desk instead of a trip to a central machine. Mid-State Litho is an authorized MBM dealer, and we deliver, install, and train your staff on the 2445 across Michigan and the Great Lakes, then keep it running with factory-trained service. The 2445 is sold as a family of three cut types so you can match the machine to your security requirement rather than over-buying. Per MBM, Smart Shred Control (SSC) anti-jam electronics reverse and clear a feed before it stalls, and the SPS safety package adds a transparent safety shield, automatic power cut-off when the cabinet door is opened or the bin is full, and double overheat protection. The illuminated Easy Switch shows operating status and doubles as an emergency stop, a photocell starts and stops the cutting head automatically, and the hardened steel shafts handle staples, paper clips, and credit cards into a bag-free bin.

  • Smart Shred Control (SSC) anti-jam reverse-and-clear (per MBM)
  • SPS safety package: transparent shield, auto cut-off on open door or full bin, double overheat protection
  • Illuminated Easy Switch status indicator and emergency stop
  • Photocell automatic start and stop
  • Hardened steel shafts shred staples, paper clips, and credit cards into a bag-free bin

Understanding the 2445's security levels

The 2445's three variant names do not line up one-to-one with the DIN 66399 grade printed on the spec sheet, so it is worth reading them carefully before you choose. MBM markets the option names below; the authoritative DIN security level is in the right-hand column.

Variant name on this page Actual DIN 66399 level Best for
Super Micro Cut P-7 (highest) Top-secret and classified material
P-7 Cross Cut P-5 Highly confidential commercial documents
P-5 Cross Cut P-4 Everyday confidential office paper

In plain terms, P-4 and P-5 cover confidential commercial documents, while P-7 (the Super Micro Cut) is the grade used for top-secret and classified destruction. If your retention policy specifies a DIN level, select by the right-hand column, not by the option label. For the broader category, see our micro-cut shredders and high-security shredders.

Which 2445 is right for you?

Choose by the security level your documents require, then accept the throughput trade-off that comes with it. A finer particle means higher security and a lower sheet count per pass:

  • Super Micro Cut (DIN P-7): classified and top-secret destruction; the finest particle and the lowest sheet throughput of the three.
  • P-7 Cross Cut option (DIN P-5): high-confidential commercial documents; a middle ground on particle size and speed.
  • P-5 Cross Cut option (DIN P-4): everyday confidential paper; the highest sheet throughput when volume matters more than grade.

All three share the same deskside footprint, so the decision is purely about security grade. Browse the full cross-cut shredder and commercial shredder ranges if you are comparing across models.

Keep it running: oil and maintenance

A cross-cut head lasts longer and jams less when it is oiled on a regular schedule. Shredder oil is the recurring consumable to keep on hand for the 2445; run a sheet of oiled paper or apply oil across the cutting head per the manual when throughput drops or the motor works harder than usual. You can order shredder oil and related consumables from our supplies and consumables range. We stock generic shredder bags as well; we do not list a bag specifically rated for the 2445, so confirm fit with us before ordering.

Why buy from Mid-State Litho

Mid-State Litho is a second-generation family dealership that has sold and serviced office and production equipment since June 1984. We cover Michigan and the Great Lakes with factory-trained technicians, and we deliver, install, train your staff, and keep the machine running rather than dropping a box at the door. Financing is available on priced models. See service and support and financing and leasing for details, and the full paper shredder lineup if the 2445 is not the right fit.

Frequently asked questions

What security levels does the 2445 offer? Three: Super Micro Cut at DIN P-7 (classified), the P-7 Cross Cut option at DIN P-5, and the P-5 Cross Cut option at DIN P-4. Match the DIN level to your retention policy.

What is the difference between micro-cut and cross-cut? Both cut in two directions, but a micro-cut produces a much smaller particle. The 2445's Super Micro Cut reaches DIN P-7, the highest commercial grade, while the cross-cut options sit at P-4 and P-5.

How many sheets can the 2445 shred at once? It depends on the cut type: roughly 5 to 7 sheets on the Super Micro Cut, 6 to 8 on the P-7 Cross Cut option, and 11 to 13 on the P-5 Cross Cut option, per the specification table above.

Does the 2445 need oil and maintenance? Yes. Oil the cutting head on a regular schedule with shredder oil to prevent jams and extend cutter life; order consumables from our supplies range.

Do you deliver, install, and service it in Michigan? Yes. Mid-State Litho delivers, installs, trains your team, and provides factory-trained service across Michigan and the Great Lakes.
