Mid-State Litho stocks Powis Parker Fastback thermal binding strips. A Fastback strip is a pre-glued spine. The machine heats the adhesive, the book block is set into it, and the spine cools into a finished bind. There is no punching and no wire, so a report and a manual take the same operation as long as the strip matches the spine.
Three strips are in stock.
W101 black 11 inch large strips, $39.00, are the 11 inch length for letter-size books bound on the long edge.
NA110 dark blue strips, $24.50, are the dark blue option in the same everyday-report family.
Royal Blue Fastback Super Strips, $24.50, are Powis Parker's Super Strip line, part N116.
Strip size has to match the finished book, and the number that matters is spine thickness, not sheet count. One hundred sheets of 20 lb bond and one hundred sheets of 80 lb coated are two different spines. Measure the block. Too wide and the book moves in the spine; too narrow and the machine will not close it.
Fastback strips run on Fastback machines only. Mid-State Litho sells the strips, not the binder. If you are choosing a binding method rather than re-ordering supplies, the systems MSL does sell and service are coil, comb, wire and perfect binding, all of which punch or glue instead of heating a spine. Financing and leasing is available on that binding equipment.
Mid-State Litho has been a Michigan print finishing dealer since 1984 and ships supplies through the Great Lakes region. Other binding consumables are listed under binding supplies, inside the wider supplies and parts catalog. Strips ship in 1 to 2 business days when they are in stock at MSL, which is the estimate recorded on all three items. Call for a same-day quote on quantity pricing.
Frequently asked questions
Do Fastback strips work in any thermal binder?
No. Fastback strips are made for Powis Parker Fastback machines and rely on that machine's heating cycle. Other thermal binders take their own manufacturer's covers.
Which strip do I need?
Match the strip to the spine thickness of the finished book, not to the sheet count. Measure the book block after it is jogged. Call MSL with the block thickness and the trim size and we will confirm the size before you order.
Does Mid-State Litho sell Fastback binding machines?
No. MSL stocks the strips. For binding equipment MSL sells and services, see coil, comb, wire and perfect binding.
How fast do strips ship?
In stock strips ship in 1 to 2 business days from Michigan. Call for stock on a specific colour before ordering.
Can I get quantity pricing?
Yes. Quantity pricing is quoted rather than posted. Call for a same-day quote.
