Choose the press from the work it has to run
Four questions settle most digital press quotes.
What is the monthly volume and the duty cycle? A press rated for the peak month is the one that survives the year. Say the highest month, not the average.
Sheet-fed toner or inkjet? Toner holds registration on coated stock and short runs, and it is what the Konica Minolta AccurioPress line does. Production inkjet trades some substrate range for running cost at volume, which is the AccurioJet KM-1 case.
What stocks and finished formats? Heavy board, synthetics, envelopes, and long sheets each rule presses in or out. Bring the stock you actually run.
What finishes the work? A press that outruns the bindery creates a bottleneck one station downstream. Mid-State Litho sells the finishing line as well, so the press can be sized against the bindery and specialty finishing equipment that will receive the sheets.
If the job is envelopes rather than sheets, start at color inkjet envelope printers. If the work is roll-fed and continuous, start at continuous feed equipment. For plate output, see computer to plate. Workflow, imposition, and job submission live under workflow software.

Digital press FAQ
What digital presses does Mid-State Litho sell?
Konica Minolta production presses: the AccurioPress C4070, C4080, C7100, C7120, and the AccurioJet KM-1 inkjet press. Larger AccurioPress models and the AccurioPrint 2100 are also available. All are quoted rather than priced online because configuration drives the price.
Toner or production inkjet?
Toner presses handle coated stock, heavy board, and short runs with tight registration. Production inkjet lowers running cost at high monthly volume and suits book blocks, transactional work, and direct mail. The decision is usually monthly volume against substrate range.
Can I test my own stock before buying?
Yes. Bring the stocks and the finished format you actually run. Sheet weight, coating, and finished size change the recommendation more than page-per-minute ratings do.
Does Mid-State Litho install and service digital presses?
Yes. Mid-State Litho has been a Michigan equipment dealer since 1984 with factory-trained technicians for installation, operator training, preventive maintenance, and repair across Michigan and the Great Lakes.
Can a digital press be financed?
Yes. Financing and leasing run through Mitsubishi HC Capital and LEAF Commercial Capital. Call 1-800-343-4231 to start.
