Akiles CoilMac-ECP Coil Binding Machine
The Akiles CoilMac-ECP is a commercial-duty electric coil punch for print shops and binderies running 4:1 (0.25 inch pitch) plastic spiral coil. It punches round holes up to a 13 inch binding edge, takes up to 25 sheets per lift, and includes crimpers for finishing the coil ends; the coil is inserted by hand. Five pins are disengageable for common sheet sizes. The ECP is the base of the CoilMac-ECP line: the ECP+ steps up to oval holes and all 54 pins disengageable, and the EX41 adds an electric inserter. Mid-State Litho is an authorized Akiles dealer and we deliver, install, and service the CoilMac line across Michigan and the Great Lakes region. This is not a drop-ship. How to choose an electric coil binder
- Punch only vs punch-and-insert. The ECP and ECP+ punch and crimp; you insert the coil by hand. The EX41 adds an electric inserter. Hand-insert is fine for moderate volume; step up to the EX41 if you bind all day.
- Hole shape: round vs oval. The base ECP punches round holes. The ECP+ punches oval (smoother coil feed). Match the hole shape to the coil you stock.
- Disengageable pins. 5 on the base ECP for common sizes; all 54 on the ECP+ for open-ended and custom sheets.
- Throat and pitch. 13 inch edge, 4:1 (0.25 inch) pitch, 25-sheet punch. Confirm your booklet size and coil pitch.
