Its electric punch motor handles up to 25 sheets of 20 lb paper per lift, and the 14-inch open punch throat lets an operator step legal-size and longer sheets through without a separate die. All 24 pins disengage, so you punch any sheet size cleanly with no half-holes at the edge. A built-in comb opener opens and closes combs from 3/16 inch up to 2 inch, so punch and bind happen on one table. • Punch drive: electric vs manual. The CombMac-EX punches electrically by foot pedal, for shops binding more than about 100 books a month. The AlphaBind-CE (EQ-254) is the manual-punch entry option.
• Throat and pin disengagement. A 14-inch open throat plus 24 disengageable pins lets you punch legal, ledger, and odd sizes without half-holes. Confirm any binder you compare offers full pin disengagement.
• Comb range. The CombMac-EX opens combs 3/16 inch to 2 inch, so it spans thin handouts to thick manuals on one machine.
