The Akiles FlexiCloser 2 is a standalone electric wire closer for twin-loop (double-loop) wire binding. It auto-detects the wire pitch - 2:1 or 3:1 - and closes the spine to the correct diameter, so an operator is not changing closing dies by hand between jobs. It handles books up to 12 inches long and up to 1.5 inches thick, runs from an LCD control panel with built-in safety sensors, and runs at roughly twice the speed of the original FlexiCloser. The FlexiCloser 2 closes wire; it does not punch, so it pairs with an Akiles WireMac punch for a complete wire-binding line. For a bindery already punching in volume, a dedicated high-speed closer keeps the finishing line moving.
