Overview

The Formax ColorMax 8C is the conveyor-stacker configuration of the ColorMax 8, a full-color Memjet inkjet printer built for envelopes, postcards, and short-run packaging blanks. The single-pass Memjet engine lays down CMYK color in one pass, so a print shop or in-plant mail department can run full-bleed color envelopes and variable-data addressing in-house instead of sending color envelope work outside.

The C in 8C is the integrated output conveyor. It catches and shingles finished pieces so one operator can run longer jobs without hand-catching the output, which is the practical reason a shop steps up from the base ColorMax 8 to the 8C.

In the Formax ColorMax lineup the 8C sits in the middle: above the entry ColorMax 7 and 7C and below the high-volume ColorMax 9, 9C, and 9 Pro. It is a common pick for shops that have outgrown a 7-series machine but do not need 9-series throughput.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Formax ColorMax 8 and ColorMax 8C?

The ColorMax 8C is the conveyor-stacker configuration of the ColorMax 8. The C adds an integrated output conveyor that catches and shingles finished pieces, which keeps an operator from hand-catching output on longer envelope and postcard runs. The print engine is the same full-color Memjet inkjet.

What can the ColorMax 8C print on?

It prints full-color, variable-data graphics and addresses on envelopes, postcards, and short-run packaging blanks. It is built for in-plant mail shops and print shops that want color envelope work in-house instead of outsourcing it.

Does the ColorMax 8C use Memjet printheads and ink?

Yes. The ColorMax line uses Memjet single-pass inkjet technology with CMYK ink. Mid-State Litho stocks Formax ColorMax ink and supplies and can quote a running-cost estimate for your typical coverage.

Where does the 8C sit in the Formax ColorMax lineup?

The ColorMax line runs from the entry ColorMax 7 and 7C, to the mid-range ColorMax 8 and 8C, to the high-volume ColorMax 9, 9C, and 9 Pro. The 8C is the mid-range model with the conveyor stacker added, a common choice for shops that have outgrown the 7-series.
