Overview

The BQ-P65 is the compact Horizon binder for offices, in-plants, and small binderies that need clean spines without a floor-model system. Guided controls and an integrated fume extractor make it practical in occupied workspaces.

Hot-melt cover binding is the primary path; tape and pad modes add versatility for office and short-run finishing. For production-volume digital books, step up to the Horizon BQ-160, the BQ-280 PUR, or the BQ-300.

Key features

  • Cover binding, tape binding, and pad binding modes
  • Hot-melt glue system with automatic clamp/nip adjustments by mode
  • Integrated fume extraction for office-friendly use

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the BQ-P65 and a PUR perfect binder?

The BQ-P65 binds with hot melt EVA glue at 130 to 150 C. PUR binders use polyurethane reactive adhesive, which holds better on coated and digital stock but needs different handling and cleanup. Mid-State Litho sells both. The Horizon BQ-280 PUR is the PUR machine in the same family.

How thick a book can the BQ-P65 bind?

Up to 25 mm (0.98 in) book block thickness. Book blocks run from 210 x 148 mm up to 315 x 210 mm, with covers up to 315 x 445 mm.

Can the BQ-P65 run in an occupied office?

Yes. It has integrated fume extraction and runs on single phase 115 V at 10 A, or 220 to 240 V at 5 A.

How long does one book take?

22 seconds per cycle in cover binding mode.

What do I move up to when this machine is too small?

Mid-State Litho also carries the Horizon BQ-160, BQ-280 PUR, BQ-300, and BQ-500. Call 1-800-343-4231 and we will size the next machine against your monthly book count.
