Details & specifications

Akiles CoilMac-ECP+ Coil Binding Machine

The Akiles CoilMac-ECP+ is a commercial-duty electric coil punch built for print shops and binderies running 4:1 (0.248 inch pitch) plastic spiral coil. It punches oval holes up to a 13 inch binding edge, takes up to 25 sheets of 20 lb paper per lift, and has all 54 pins disengageable so you can punch odd sheet sizes and open-ended edges. The plus model adds Akiles oval crimpers for finishing the coil ends; coil insertion is done by hand (this machine crimps but does not insert). Mid-State Litho is an authorized Akiles dealer and we deliver, install, and service the CoilMac line across Michigan and the Great Lakes region. This is not a drop-ship. Our factory-trained technicians set it up, train your operators, and keep it running.

How to choose an electric coil binder

Punch only vs punch-and-insert. The ECP and ECP+ punch and crimp; you insert the coil by hand. The CoilMac-EX, EX41, and ECI add an electric inserter for higher volume. If you bind all day, step up to an inserter model.

Hole shape: oval vs round. The ECP+ punches oval holes for easier coil feed. The base ECP and the EX41 punch round holes. Match the hole shape to the coil you stock.

Disengageable pins. All 54 pins disengage on the ECP+ for custom and open-ended sheets, versus 5 on the base ECP. More disengageable pins means more sheet-size flexibility.

Throat and pitch. 13 inch edge, 4:1 (0.248 inch) pitch, 25-sheet punch on the ECP+. Confirm your booklet size and coil pitch before buying.

Compare the Akiles CoilMac line

The CoilMac-ECP+ (oval holes, all 54 pins, punch and crimp) steps up from the base CoilMac-ECP (round holes, 5 disengageable pins), while the CoilMac-EX41 adds an electric inserter for higher daily volume. See the full range in coil and spiral binding machines.
