Choosing between the FlashCard XL and the FlashCard
Both machines feed automatically and cut full-bleed cards without a trim pass. The difference is sheet size.
The FlashCard XL takes 12 x 18 and 13 x 19 sheets. Use it to gang more cards on each sheet, or to cut postcards and menus off the same press sheet.
The Formax FlashCard at $4,995 is the tabletop unit for letter and legal sheets. Its standard 3.5 in. cassette cuts 10-up business cards.
If your press sheet is 12 x 18 or 13 x 19, the XL is the one that pays for itself. If you cut 10-up business cards off a letter sheet, it is not.

How accurate is the cut?
0.1 mm cutting accuracy, which is what keeps a full-bleed card from showing a white edge on one side.
Can it handle coated or laminated stock?
Yes. The double friction feed is there for coated sheets that would slip on a single-roller feeder.
Can I save repeat jobs?
Yes. Six pre-programmed jobs plus 10 custom jobs, so a standing card size is recalled rather than re-measured.
Does it cut anything besides business cards?
Yes, postcards and similar full-bleed work off the same sheet, within the machine's sheet range.
