How to choose a corner rounder

Corner rounders divide on three questions: how the stroke is powered, how thick a lift the machine takes, and how many radii the shop runs.

Power. Manual machines are lever-operated and suit a shop rounding a few hundred pieces a week. Electric machines take the operator effort out of a repeated stroke. Pneumatic machines like the CR-50XP run off shop air at up to 60 strokes per minute, which is the configuration that matters when rounding is a production step rather than a finishing touch.

Lift capacity. A 2 inch capacity machine handles a full lift of cover stock. Lighter machines round thinner stacks and are sized for card work.

Radii. Each corner radius is a separate cutting unit or die. A shop running one radius on one product buys once. A shop rounding business cards, menu covers, and tags will run three or more, so ask what the machine costs to re-tool before comparing sticker prices.
