Small media inkjet printer

The RENA AS-150 is a compact fixed-head inkjet printer for variable data printing on small media: seed packets, coin packets, envelopes, and postcards. Three ink cartridges give it 1.5" of total print height at resolutions up to 600 dpi. The chassis is all metal, the feeder loads on the fly, and print quality settings are adjustable, which suits it to production work in mailing, packaging, and specialty printing.

The AS-150 is the entry machine in the MSL range of monochrome inkjet printers, part of the wider mailing equipment line.

Key features

  • Fixed-head inkjet printing with three cartridges for 1.5" of total print height
  • Prints addresses, barcodes, graphics, and fonts, with spot color capability

Applications

Mailrooms use the AS-150 for addressing envelopes, postcards, and direct mail pieces. Packaging operations print seed packets, coin packets, and other small formats. It also covers barcode and label printing for inventory and shipping, and variable data personalization with graphics, fonts, and spot color.

Available options

  • Spot color ink cartridges
  • Custom feeder configurations

Benefits

The load-on-the-fly feeder removes the manual handling delays that come with stopping to reload, so runs keep moving. Adjustable dpi settings and spot color capability give the operator control over output quality from job to job. At 32 lbs with a 14" x 13" footprint, the AS-150 fits on a mailing bench, and the all-metal build holds up to daily production use across small-format applications.

How to choose between the Rena AS models

The AS range separates on two things: how thick a piece it will feed, and how fast.

The AS-150 on this page is the small-media machine. It handles pieces from 4 x 2.125 in up to 9.5 x 6.5 in at up to 0.020 in thick, and it runs 5,500 #10 envelopes or 7,500 seed packets an hour. Print height is 1.5 in across three cartridges. That covers addressing, coin and seed packets, postcards and barcode work on light stock. At $8,730 it is the entry point into the range.

The RENA AS-450 address printer at $12,005 and the RENA AS-650 address printer at $15,995 step up the feeder and the speed for mixed mail work. The RENA AS-850 address printer at $21,830 is the production machine for shops running long addressing jobs daily.

Two practical notes. Print height is the constraint people miss: 1.5 in covers an address block and a barcode, and a full-face graphic needs a taller head. And the AS-150 feeder holds 300 envelopes and reloads while running, so on a 5,000-piece job the operator tops it up instead of stopping the machine.

For heavier or thicker stock than 0.020 in, the Formax AP2 address printer heads the other line MSL carries.

Why buy the AS-150 from Mid-State Litho

Mid-State Litho has sold and serviced mailing and print finishing equipment from Michigan since 1984. We are an authorized Rena dealer, so the AS-150 arrives with a factory warranty, a parts channel and a support line that knows the machine.

An inkjet addressing printer is a machine a mailroom runs every day, which makes consumables and uptime the real cost of ownership rather than the purchase price. We stock the RENA EASYInk cartridges range, our technicians are factory trained on the AS line, and we cover Michigan and the Great Lakes region with equipment service and support.

The AS-150 ships free within the continental United States at $8,730. Financing and leasing is available if the spend is easier to approve as a monthly number. Call or send a request and we will confirm the delivery window.

RENA AS-150 questions

What is the largest piece the AS-150 will print?

9.5 in by 6.5 in, up to 0.020 in thick. The smallest is 4 in by 2.125 in. For thicker stock, look at the Formax AP range.

How tall is the print area?

1.5 in, made up of three cartridges at up to 600 dpi. That covers an address block, a barcode and spot color. A taller image needs a bigger machine.

How many envelopes will it run in an hour?

5,500 #10 envelopes, or 7,500 seed or coin packets. The feeder holds 300 envelopes and reloads on the fly, so the run does not stop to refill.

Does it need special power?

No. It runs on 100 to 240V AC at 50/60Hz, so a standard outlet works.

What does shipping cost?

Nothing. The AS-150 ships free within the continental United States, drop-shipped from Rena, quoted at 3 to 5 business days.
