Common questions about the Onyx OD4012

How many sheets will the OD4012 punch at once?

Up to 30 sheets of 20 lb bond per punch, at 65 cycles per minute. Heavier stock and laminated sheets reduce that count, so size the machine against the heaviest sheet you run rather than the lightest.

Which die patterns does it take?

Twelve E-Z Change die patterns, covering comb, coil, wire, velo and 3-hole formats. Dies are sold separately and change without tools using the Swing Away Die Pin Retainer.

What does open-ended mean on an 11 inch punch?

The die area is 11 inches but the throat is open at both ends, so sheets wider than 11 inches are punched in two passes rather than being limited to the die width. That is how the OD4012 handles oversize and tabloid work.

How is the OD4012 different from the Onyx HD7000?

Both use the same E-Z Change die system. The HD7000 is the heavier daily-production machine at $3,748. The OD4012 at $2,677 suits a shop that punches regularly but not all day. Dies move between them.
