Automatic laminating system

The Foliant Mercury 400 NG is a compact single-sided laminator built for digital and offset lamination work. It runs at up to 88 ft/min, feeds from a 21.25" pile suction feeder, separates finished sheets with automated overlap and bump separation, and takes sheet sizes up to 15.7" x 27.5". Commercial print shops run it where floor space is tight but the work still calls for production output.

Key features

  • Heidelberg-style stream suction feeder with OMRON servo motor and PLC control
  • Single-sided thermal lamination of 115 to 600 gsm stocks using BOPP or nylon film; PET with the optional module
  • Twin adjustable de-curling: blade for offset sheets, roller for toner-sensitive digital prints
  • Infrared-heated chrome roller with pneumatic pressure control; warm-up in under 10 minutes
  • Icon-based touchscreen and PLC interface with no language settings to configure
  • Integrated bump separator with fast-cycling rollers separates and delivers laminated sheets
  • Compact build that fits standard production spaces

The Mercury 400 NG puts production-grade lamination in a compact footprint, handles coated, thick, and long-format sheets, and sets up fast from the touchscreen. Film support extends to PET and foil with the optional modules, and the option list lets the machine grow with your volume. Call Mid-State Litho for a quote, installation, and operator training.

About Foliant lamination equipment

Foliant builds sheet-fed laminating systems in the Czech Republic. Mid-State Litho carries 20 Foliant machines across six lines: Gemini, Vega, Mercury, Taurus, Castor and Pollux, in B3, B2 and B1 formats, single-sided and 4x4 double-sided. The Mercury line is the steady-volume family; the Taurus line is the faster one at the same sheet size. Every Foliant machine MSL sells is quoted with delivery, installation and operator training, and it sits in our wider range of laminating machines.

Choosing between the Mercury 400 NG, the Taurus 400 NG and a 4x4 machine

The Mercury 400 NG and the Taurus 400 NG take the same maximum sheet, 15.7" x 27.5", and share the same suction feed and bump separation. Speed is the difference: 88 ft/min against 131 ft/min. Both are single-sided laminators.

Pick the Mercury 400 NG when lamination is steady work that is not holding up the bindery. It costs less and occupies the same floor space.

Pick the Taurus 400 NG when lamination is the bottleneck and the extra 43 ft/min pays for itself.

Pick a 4x4 machine, either the Mercury 400 NG 4x4 or its Taurus counterpart, when two-sided lamination is regular work; those live in our double-sided laminators. On a single-sided machine, two-sided work means running the pile twice. If you need a larger sheet, step up to the B2-format Mercury 530 NG.

Why buy the Mercury 400 NG from Mid-State Litho

Mid-State Litho has sold and serviced print finishing equipment since 1984 from Grand Rapids, Michigan. A Mercury 400 NG bought here arrives on our freight, gets installed by our technicians, and your operators are trained before we leave. Film, parts and service come from the same place, so one call covers the machine and what runs through it.

Foliant Mercury 400 NG questions

How fast is the Foliant Mercury 400 NG?

Up to 88 ft/min. The Taurus 400 NG is the faster machine in the same format at 131 ft/min.

What sheet sizes does the Mercury 400 NG run?

Up to 15.7" x 27.5", on stocks from 115 to 600 gsm using BOPP or nylon film.

What kind of feeder does it use?

A Heidelberg-style stream suction feeder with an OMRON servo motor and PLC control, fed from a 21.25" pile.

Does it separate the finished sheets?

Yes. It uses automated overlap and bump separation, so laminated sheets come off the machine ready to handle rather than as a welded block.

How do I get a price on the Mercury 400 NG?

It is quoted per configuration. Request a quote and Mid-State Litho prices the machine with delivery, installation and operator training.
