What shops run on the 8000P-DS
The 8000P-DS handles the numbering work most shops actually book: sequential numbering on NCR forms and invoices, raffle and event ticketing, crash numbering with simultaneous perf and score, and short-run check numbering. With up to four heads across two shafts and 110 stored jobs, a four up form numbers, perforates and scores in a single pass rather than three.
How to choose across the Graphic Whizard numbering line
The line separates on shaft count, head capacity and speed. Price follows.
The GW 3000 at $10,480 and the GW 6000 at $12,260 are the entry machines for shops numbering occasional runs. The GW 8000E at $14,665 is the single shaft production model at 8,000 sheets per hour. This machine, the 8000P-DS at $15,745, is the same speed with a second shaft, which is the whole difference: a four up job numbers in one pass instead of two. The GW 12000 at $20,910 is the step up when the numbering work runs daily. Compare the full range on the numbering machines page.
The practical test is how many up your typical numbering job is. If most work is one up or two up, the 8000E does it and the second shaft sits idle. If four up is normal, the $1,080 between the 8000E and the 8000P-DS buys back a full pass on every job.
Wheels and blades for the 8000P-DS
The machine ships with a 12 TPI perforating wheel and a score wheel, and MSL stocks the wear parts as separate listings: the 12 TPI perf blade at $78.75, the score blade at $63.00, the slit blade at $56.00, and the 42 TPI microperf blade at $114.75. Keep spares on hand so a worn wheel never idles a run.
Frequently asked questions
What does the DS in 8000P-DS mean?
Double shafts. Two shafts let a four up job number in one pass instead of two.
How fast is the 8000P-DS?
Up to 8,000 sheets per hour.
How many numbering heads can it carry?
It ships with one head and takes up to four, two on each shaft.
Can it perforate and score at the same time?
Yes. It ships with a 12 TPI perforating wheel and a score wheel, and it stores 110 jobs in memory, so repeat setups come back without re-measuring.
What is the difference between the 8000P-DS and the 8000E?
Shaft count and price. The 8000E is the single shaft model at $14,665. The 8000P-DS adds the second shaft at $15,745, which is what lets a four up job finish in one pass.
