About Graphic Whizard numbering equipment

Graphic Whizard builds finishing equipment aimed at short-run and digital print work, and the numbering line is where Mid-State Litho places most of it. The tabletop machines handle ticket, form, and multi-part carbonless work that would otherwise go out to a trade finisher.

Where the GW 6000 (also written GW6000) sits: it is the two-head tabletop. Below it, the GW 3000 runs 3,000 sheets per hour for lighter volume. Above it, the 8000 series adds automation and higher throughput, in the Graphic Whizard 8000E numbering machine and the Graphic Whizard 8000P DS numbering machine. The GW 6000 is usually the right machine for a shop that numbers regularly but not continuously, and that wants perf and score in the same pass rather than as a second operation.

Mid-State Litho is an authorized Graphic Whizard dealer, stocks the perforating and scoring wheels, and services the machines with factory-trained technicians in Michigan and the Great Lakes region. Compare the full range under numbering machines, including the Morgana FSN II rotary numbering machine, and see perforating, slitting, and scoring equipment for related finishing.

Why buy from Mid-State Litho

Mid-State Litho has sold and serviced print finishing equipment since 1984, from Michigan, covering the Great Lakes region.

On a numbering machine the consumables are the thing. Numbering heads wear, perforating wheels dull, and a shop that cannot get a 12 TPI wheel the same week loses the job. Mid-State Litho stocks Graphic Whizard tooling rather than ordering it in on demand, alongside other bindery and pressroom supplies. The technicians are factory trained, so head timing and perf depth setup happen at installation rather than over the phone.

Equipment financing is available and the application is on this site. The GW 6000 is delivered, installed, and set up, and the operators are trained before the crew leaves.

Frequently asked questions

How fast is the Graphic Whizard GW 6000?

6,000 sheets or sets per hour. Note that this is the GW 6000, not the GW 3000, which is the slower machine in the same line. Mid-State Litho lists both.

How many numbers can the GW 6000 print per sheet?

Up to 10 numbers per head, with one or two numbering heads, so up to 20 numbers per sheet on a two-head machine. The heads rotate and lock through a full 360 degrees, so numbering position is not restricted to one orientation.

Can the GW 6000 number carbonless multi-part forms?

Yes. It crash numbers up to 10-part carbonless, and it feeds sets either glued or unglued. It can also create snap sets while numbering.

Does the GW 6000 perforate and score in the same pass as numbering?

Yes. It ships with one accessory holder carrying a 12 TPI perforating wheel and a score wheel, and perforating wheel options are available in other tooth counts. Numbering, perforating, and scoring run in a single pass.

Does the GW 6000 come with a stand?

No. The GW 6000 is a tabletop machine and the stand is a separate item. It ships standard with one numbering head and drive unit, and a second head can be added.
