Foliant builds the laminating systems that keep commercial print shops running through long jobs without operator babysitting. Mid-State Litho is an authorized Foliant dealer with 21 Foliant laminators in stock across the Mercury, Taurus, Vega, Pollux, Castor, and Gemini families, from entry single-sided desktop units up to fully-automatic industrial double-sided production lines.
We have been selling and servicing Foliant equipment for commercial binderies, in-plant production shops, and digital print shops across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin since the brand entered the North American market. Our factory-trained service technicians install, calibrate, and maintain every Foliant model on this page, and we change blades, we don't sharpen them, so cut quality stays consistent for the life of the machine.
Foliant equipment splits into three production tiers. The Mercury line is the flagship industrial laminator family (Mercury 400 NG, Mercury 530 NG, and Mercury 760 NG industrial), built for high-volume continuous-feed production with automatic double-sided 4x4 configurations on the Mercury 400 NG 4x4 and 530 NG 4x4 variants. The Taurus line covers automatic single and double-sided production at 400, 530, and 760 widths, with NG 4x4 double-sided options across all three formats. The Vega line is the entry tier (Vega 400A, 400SF, 530A, 530S, and 530-SF) for shops getting started with commercial laminating or running shorter daily volumes.
Specialty applications get the Pollux 760 SF (single-feed wide-format), Castor 530 SF (compact production), Gemini 400 NG-S 2up and Gemini 400 NG-T (specialty configurations), and the Foliant 400T. Whether you laminate booklet covers, digital press output, packaging prototypes, or wide-format trade-show graphics, there is a Foliant model in this catalog sized for your daily volume. Foliant Mercury Industrial Laminators
The Mercury family is Foliant's flagship continuous-feed industrial line, built for production environments that laminate book covers, commercial print finishing, packaging prototypes, and digital-press output at high volume. The Foliant Mercury 400 NG runs single-sided 400 mm production, while the Mercury 400 NG 4x4 double-sided adds 4-roller double-sided lamination in a single pass. Stepping up in width, the Foliant Mercury 530 NG handles single-sided 530 mm work and the Mercury 530 NG 4x4 delivers double-sided 530 mm production. At the top of the line, the Mercury 760 NG industrial is the wide-format single-sided flagship for the highest-throughput shops. Every Mercury model pairs with MSL factory-trained install and service. Shops integrating lamination inline with a press should also see our Taurus automatic systems below, and our broader range of digital presses and inkjet printers.
Foliant Taurus Automatic Laminating Systems
The Taurus line covers automatic single and double-sided production across 400, 530, and 760 mm widths, sized for digital-press output and mid-volume commercial laminating where unattended runs matter. All six catalog models carry the NG platform: the Foliant Taurus 400 NG and Taurus 400 NG 4x4 at the entry width, the Taurus 530 NG and Taurus 530 NG 4x4 for B2-class work, and the Foliant Taurus 760 NG with the Taurus 760 NG 4x4 for wide-format double-sided production. The 4x4 variants lay film on both sides in a single pass, which pays back fastest on jobs that would otherwise run twice through a single-sided machine. Taurus systems are a natural fit alongside business card cutters and other finishing equipment in a digital-print workflow.
Foliant Vega Entry and Mid-Volume Laminators
The Vega line is Foliant's entry and mid-volume single-sided tier, sized for short-run commercial work, in-plant production, and shops adding lamination as a new service. The catalog carries five Vega models: the Vega 400A and Vega 400SF at the 400 mm width, and the Vega 530A, Vega 530S, and Vega 530 SF for 530 mm production. Vega machines deliver Foliant build quality at the lowest entry point in the range, which makes them the right starting point for shops running under roughly 200 sheets per day. When daily volume climbs, the Taurus automatic systems above are the natural upgrade path.
Foliant Pollux, Castor, Gemini and 400T Specialty Laminators
Foliant builds specialty configurations for niche finishing workflows. The Pollux 760 SF is a wide-format single-feed laminator for oversized work, and the Castor 530 SF offers compact 530 mm production where floor space is tight. The Gemini 400 NG-S 2up and Gemini 400 NG-T are 2-up and specialty configurations for shops with specific imposition needs, and the Foliant 400T rounds out the specialty group. If none of the standard tiers matches your sheet format or workflow, our team can spec the right specialty configuration; contact our team with your application.
How to Choose a Foliant Laminator
Axis 1: Daily volume. Vega is sized for shops running under 200 sheets/day or just adding lamination as a service. Taurus handles 200 to 1500 sheets/day with automatic feeding for unattended runs. Mercury is the flagship continuous-feed line for production environments running 1500+ sheets/day or jobs that need to run lights-out.
Axis 2: Single-sided vs double-sided. Single-sided lamination covers the majority of book-cover and digital-press finishing. Double-sided 4x4 NG configurations (Mercury 400 NG 4x4, Mercury 530 NG 4x4, Taurus 400 / 530 / 760 NG 4x4) lay film on both sides in one pass. Payback comes from operator-time savings on jobs that would otherwise require two passes through a single-sided machine.
Axis 3: Sheet format. The model number indicates the maximum laminating width in millimeters. 400-series fits SRA3 (13x19 inch). 530-series fits B2 (around 20.9 inch wide). 760-series handles wide-format and B1 production up to around 29.9 inch wide.
Axis 4: Integration and workflow. Inline (digital press exit, then laminator, then finishing) versus offline (batch laminating after press run). Inline integration favors the Mercury or Taurus 4x4 NG models with consistent throughput; offline batching opens up the full lineup including the Vega entry tier.

Foliant Laminator FAQ
What is the difference between the Foliant Mercury, Taurus, and Vega laminators?
Production tier and automation level. Vega is entry / single-sided for shops getting started or running shorter daily volumes. Taurus is automatic with single and double-sided NG 4x4 options across 400, 530, and 760 mm widths. Mercury is the flagship industrial line for continuous high-volume production. All three families share Foliant build quality; the difference is throughput, automation, and whether you need double-sided lamination in one pass.
What sheet sizes do Foliant laminators handle?
The number in each Foliant model name (400, 530, 760) is the maximum laminating width in millimeters. Foliant 400-series handles up to about 15.7 inches wide (covers SRA3 / 13x19 inch comfortably). 530-series handles up to about 20.9 inches (B2 format). 760-series handles up to about 29.9 inches (wide-format and B1 production).
Does Mid-State Litho service Foliant laminators on-site?
Yes. Our factory-trained technicians install, calibrate, and service every Foliant model in our catalog. Same-week response across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. We change roller assemblies, blades, and drive components in-shop or on-site depending on the repair scope. Service contracts and preventive maintenance plans are available.
Can I finance a Foliant laminator?
Yes. MSL offers equipment financing and leasing through Mitsubishi HC Capital and LEAF Commercial Capital. Most Foliant models qualify for 36, 48, or 60-month terms with $1 buyout or fair-market-value end-of-lease options. Contact our team for an application; approvals typically run 2 to 3 business days.
Is the Foliant Mercury 760 NG industrial available with double-sided lamination?
The Mercury 760 NG is configured for industrial single-sided continuous-feed production. For double-sided 4x4 lamination at narrower widths, the Mercury 400 NG 4x4 and Mercury 530 NG 4x4 are the inline options. For double-sided 760-width production, contact our team for a sizing review (Foliant supports custom configurations).
